Civics: how public decisions are made.
Civics explains institutions students will inherit: constitutions, legislatures, courts, and local government. Lessons stay instructional and age-appropriate.
Students can name the three branches and a check each one has on the others. Rights come with responsibilities. A bill becoming law is a process with committee work and votes, not a single speech. Local examples — school board, city council — make the federal story less abstract.
